[00:00:00] Amplafy Media: Hey y'all. If you are trying to figure out how to put out more shorts or more short form content, especially using ai, I want you to watch this video now. My name is Hector Santi Stevan, and I've spent much of the last decade helping podcasts to grow themselves and to really get more visibility for the businesses that are publishing and producing them.
[00:00:17] Amplafy Media: But. And one of the core things that we've had to figure out along the way was how do we create shorts? How do we create a lot of shorts, and how do we do it in a way that utilizes and leverages the tools that are out there? Because we used to pay an entire video team and we used. To have editors that were making shorts for dozens.
[00:00:36] Amplafy Media: And you know, it was a full-time job for multiple people on our small little staff. And that was because it was a necessity and we had to do that. But as AI has sort of improved, as these tools have gotten better, and as more and more people have gotten familiar with how to leverage these things, it has gotten easier and has gotten more possible to be able to do that.
[00:00:54] Amplafy Media: And so when I think about like, what are we actually trying to do though, right? Uh, I think it's about standing out, right? That's, that's really what we're trying to do. The people that we work with, they're oftentimes in industries where the only thing that separates them is their own expertise, right? The business' expertise, their specific systems, their specific way of thinking, and then the relationships that, and then the relationships and the connections that they have with their clients.
[00:01:17] Amplafy Media: Otherwise, a lot of them can go anywhere. You know, we serve a lot of agencies, we serve a lot of consultants. We serve a lot of people who the really, the only thing that stands out to them is the way that they think. And we found that video. Specifically podcast for us has been a great container for us to be able to help those business leaders be able to come in, share their thoughts, share their ideas, share their expertise, share their their knowledge.
[00:01:42] Amplafy Media: Obviously have great conversations, highlight tons of people that they're either working with partners, clients, such like that. But then not everybody is going to listen to an entire podcast. Not everybody's gonna tune in on YouTube. Not everybody's gonna watch it on Spotify or wherever they get their.
[00:01:55] Amplafy Media: Full podcast, but they might catch a clip. Something might show up on their algorithm. And what's great about platforms these days is that things like TikTok and things like YouTube and Instagram, as terrible as they are for some things, right, and as damaging as they've been in some areas, especially for young people, they are incredibly good at identifying people's interests and then putting.
[00:02:17] Amplafy Media: More content like that in front of those people. And so if you can get out there and you can start to consistently create content around a specific topic, around a specific subject, then these platforms are going to start feeding your stuff to the people who are interested in it. And it's not always gonna be right away, and it's not always guaranteed that those people are gonna resonate with your content right away.
[00:02:39] Amplafy Media: But now at least you've got a chance you haven't at bat. It used to be that you had to pay, you know, money to be able to, you know, advertise in front of these people. Whether that be, you know, in the old school days I used to send out, you know, direct mailers or, you know, we used to do, you know, things like billboards or, you know, putting stuff on
[00:02:55] Amplafy Media: newspapers and bench ads and then all this sort of stuff. Obviously that evolved to things like PPC and Facebook ads and Google ads and such, and, and that was necessary for a time being if you wanted to make sure that your stuff was reaching people today, that's evolved a bit, right?
[00:03:09] Amplafy Media: With the organic content and organic platforms you can utilize and leverage these algorithms to be able to help. Put your stuff in front of the right people, and so, well, obviously a lot of you guys already know that, and that's why you're watching this video, but we're going to talk about how to do that in a way that's scalable.
[00:03:25] Amplafy Media: Now, before we get that, I, I mentioned this a little bit, right? But really what we're trying to do is we're trying to scale authority, right? We're trying to scale our expertise. We're trying to scale our positioning. We're trying to let more people know. About what it is that we specifically do. I find that a lot of people that we work with, they help a ton.
[00:03:43] Amplafy Media: They help people in, in a really great, in a really deep and helpful, and a valuable way. But they find that the market, that the industry, the people outside of their network doesn't actually know what they do. And so what we're going to do with this process and the system is help enable you to be able to let the industry know, let the market know what it is that specifically you do and the value it is that you can provide.
[00:04:05] Amplafy Media: To your clients, to the marketplace. To the industries. And then also we can highlight some of the relationships that you have and some of the connections that you have. Because it's not always about necessarily what you know, but it is about who you know. And what we can do is we can leverage that. We can share that.
[00:04:19] Amplafy Media: Through content so that other people will go, oh wow, I didn't know that so and so was connected with so and so. And you know, just by you being connected with other people and you having conversations and you showing up on video with those people, that creates, uh, authority, that creates trust, that creates, uh, a bit of affinity, uh, for you that, uh, can then maybe you didn't have before this.
[00:04:40] Amplafy Media: Okay. Now, one of the reasons that we really enjoy podcasting as a container specifically is because we, you know, we talk about podcasts being this pillar piece of content. Well, what's great is that yes, you do get the audio and then you can put that on Apple and Spotify, and that's what typically a lot of people used to think podcasts were.
[00:04:56] Amplafy Media: More and more people associate podcasts with videos nowadays, but. Now in addition to just the video, what's great about the video is that. That transcript can also help to feed all of your other marketing endeavors, right? All of your other marketing channels and your avenues. Whether that is things like text, like email, or something like a substack or a blog, or even if you're doing, you know, Facebook ads, you, you can write the captions and the copy and all of that stuff can be grabbed.
[00:05:22] Amplafy Media: From either you as the business owner or the, the business leader's actual words, right. Is actually coming out of their own mouth. And so you're able to use those and it, it sounds, um, much more like the company, right? There's a much stronger voice and a much, uh, closer connection between the business and it, the clients and the prospects.
[00:05:41] Amplafy Media: The other thing that we don't talk a lot about though is that it can feed things like carousels. we're gonna turn. These things into videos here, but you can do, take the same process and augment it and have it spit out a carousel or a slideshow or a deck or whatever it is that you need to be able to do for your marketing engine, right?
[00:05:58] Amplafy Media: And so today we're gonna focus on specifically the short form, right? And how to get it out in, in that regard. But just know that these processes can help. If you wanna do long form video, if you want to do it, you know, with regards to images or graphics or I mentioned infographics and things like Pinterest or Instagram or LinkedIn, where those things can win.
[00:06:17] Amplafy Media: Uh, but again, today we're gonna focus specifically on short form. So we're gonna get into some of my favorite ways and I just found a new one, like as literally right before we were recording this video. And so you have, we're gonna talk about some options and some ways that you can be able to do that.
[00:06:32] Amplafy Media: But one of the cool things, uh, we'll just put this like this as a mystery so you guys can stick around as the, the new way that I don't think a lot of you guys realize was possible to create videos Before we get into that, though, before we get into how to create it with an agent, or some of you guys are using tools like Descrip or this sort of mystery one that I just stumbled upon, uh, I wanna talk about some forth rules.
[00:06:51] Amplafy Media: For making good videos. 'cause one of the things that I find is that a lot of people can utilize a system like this. They can go in or, or, or there are tools like Opus or there are tools, like even Descrip, you know, at a time was doing things like this. Um, you know, we've worked with a number of different.
[00:07:08] Amplafy Media: The platforms whose their claim is that they create and will create shorts for you. And they will, they go in and they'll create, you know, clips and they'll be vertical and they'll be the right size and they'll be the right length and they might even, you know, throw on the captions on there. Maybe they can add in some music or some effects.
[00:07:24] Amplafy Media: But we found that on top of that, in addition to just those bare minimums, it also has to be a good clip. And so we were been asking ourselves over that time, what actually makes for a good clip now above anything, the content has to be relevant. The content has to be engaging, the content has to be helpful. Uh, so if it's not that, if you're not talking about anything that someone is actually interested in, it's gonna be very, very hard.
[00:07:46] Amplafy Media: Even if you. Follow some of these rules to actually get it to convert. the first thing is that shorter is better. We at the beginning of our sort of journey and sort of our experiment with short form video, we were creating things at the maximum amount of the time that we were allowed, right?
[00:08:02] Amplafy Media: If it allowed us to have 60 seconds, we would try and push it up to 58 and a half, or, you know, 59 and still have a complete thought. If it was, you know, 90 seconds when they stretched it out to that, we would extend it a little bit and, you know, we try to get to 90 seconds. What we found is that it's the best thing is that it should be as short or as long as it needs to be, and no longer than that.
[00:08:19] Amplafy Media: If you want to create something that is, you know, 38 seconds, great. Make it 38 seconds. If you want it to be 23 seconds, great. Make it 23 seconds. Uh, it doesn't need to be a specific length in order to perform. You wanna make sure that it is as, as, just make sure that the content is good, and then clip it there.
[00:08:35] Amplafy Media: The second thing that you wanna look at is the first three seconds. Retention is huge on these platforms, and so if you are not getting people to stick around for, long. Then you're not gonna get more visibility. They're not gonna show it to you on the algorithm. It's gonna be really challenging for more and more people to see it.
[00:08:50] Amplafy Media: And so the first three seconds are really vital. Take a look at what is said in those first three seconds. Is it a jarring point? Is it a question that's being posed to it? Is it something that is kind of controversial? Look at those first three seconds, and if you can get them to stick around for those first three seconds, well, now it's much more likely for them to stick around for 10 seconds, which is sort of the next milestone, and then 30 in a minute.
[00:09:10] Amplafy Media: But really if you don't get 'em fast, those first three, none of the rest of it matters. And then the next one is to making sure this is less about how you create the video and more about what you do with it and where you put it after it's already created, and
[00:09:21] Amplafy Media: It's interesting is we call it the big three for short form content, right? Which is Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. And these are the ones. What's great about these that you can create one video and you can post them. All three of these platforms. Are there other ones where you can post short form?
[00:09:35] Amplafy Media: Absolutely. Things like X or things like Facebook or things like LinkedIn. All these places, you can put 'em there. But we like these because you can put one video, it can, it can all, all these follow the same sort of specs and parameters. And these are where people are consuming short form content. And their algorithms are actually designed and geared to actually find people who are posting these stuff.
[00:09:56] Amplafy Media: And connecting them with people who are interested. And so if nothing else, make sure that you're at least posting to these three and then any of the other ones that you think are relevant.
[00:10:05] Amplafy Media: Okay, so let's hop into our options here. And the first one that I listed was an agent. And this could be, you know, it's really, what's nice about it is that this could be any sort of agent that you choose, right? Um, there are a number of options out there. codex is one of them. PI is another one. Uh, muse is another one.
[00:10:23] Amplafy Media: My favorite right now is news research, Hermes bot, and, uh, I, it's not, it's called Hermes Bot, but I call it Hermes. And so here's their desktop. And obviously this looks a little bit, you know, maybe it's a little crazy for you, but what I wanna show you here is that everything happened here in the app, and so
[00:10:42] Amplafy Media: and if you want the skills that it actually ran off of, because obviously we've gone back and forth on those quite a bit. Just drop skills into the comments, and I will send those to you, but you'll notice that it creates the videos right here in, in the app.
[00:10:56] Amplafy Media: And I love, you know, specifically her Hermes because, uh, I can. View all of the things in the app. I can make adjustments. There were some things you'll see, you'll notice that I asked them to double check the face tracking and the skills. And what's nice about doing it here in, in these agents is that they have all of those open source skills to be able to do it.
[00:11:15] Amplafy Media: So things like face tracking or just things like cutting and clipping and adding captions, all of that can be done right here in the agent with. You know, with these skills, and you'll need to be able to, you know, you need your agent to install some of these things, but things like media pipe and things like FFM, peg and you know, those sort of things.
[00:11:31] Amplafy Media: But after that initial install, it should be off to the races. And so that's running right now. While that is running, uh, let's show you the descrip ones.
[00:11:43] Amplafy Media: Okay, so this one here, I kicked it off in the Hermes app, but you'll see there that I have a Descrip project. And so what I like about the script is that it creates them here, but then it also allows me to go in and to be able to edit them as well. And so on the, if I'm just creating it natively in the app, then obviously I've gotta go back and forth in the chat interface, and that's great, and that's simple enough.
[00:12:07] Amplafy Media: But if I have some editing skills or I want to be able to just use this as a way to just get started, and then I can go in and. Fine tune it. Now I can go and hop in here and if I'm familiar with the script, then I can go in and edit all this and I can move around these titles. I can move around the captions, I can move around whatever it is, or make any adjustments to even the transcript here as well.
[00:12:27] Amplafy Media: So the script is great because then, um, you know, it's, it's a great way if you want to have your hands in the process and really have a human in the process, it makes that much, much easier.
[00:12:36] Amplafy Media: And the last thing that I wanna talk about was actually something that I stumbled upon today, and that was actually that notion can now edit videos right here in the Notion app. And I was, I haven't even played around with it too much last night before I went to bed, I gave it a video, I gave it. What's nice about Notion is it hosts and it holds all of our, uh, skills.
[00:12:57] Amplafy Media: And so again, if you want this skill here. Um, just comment, skill, and I'll send this to you, but this has all of the things that it needs to be able to do in order to create videos, uh, create good videos, and it has all the things it needs to be able to install in, in every such way. So we used this to, um.
[00:13:16] Amplafy Media: Run on this video and I gave it a very simple prompt and I just told it to create a clip, you know, add some captions and it went through and it created this thing, which I'm pretty impressed with 'cause it had limited instructions. Um, and it sort of did what I needed to do right here. And I can download it, I can add it to a page.
[00:13:35] Amplafy Media: And so Notion has its own built in video editing system. Um. You know, obviously you'll need the pro plan to be able to have, you know, access to the AI and such. But otherwise this is a, another option for you if you want to be able to, um, you know, create short form videos. So if you have any questions, throw those in the comments and I will come back and answer those.
[00:13:57] Amplafy Media: otherwise common skill, if you want access to that, uh, skill. And I'll send that over. But, um, we'll see on the next one.
