Full transcript
[00:00:00] Julie: never let the age number be a factor. "Oh, but I've been doing this for 30 years.
[00:00:07] Julie: I've been doing this for 40." It doesn't matter. It's only over when it's over. I don't care if we're 85.
[00:00:12] Julie: In one year you can find yourself, write an amazing book that will change the entire Earth. So never let the age factor or how many, how long you've been doing something to stop you from completely shifting the course of your entire life.
[00:00:30] LuRae: Welcome to And Then I Did This. Prepare to be inspired as we celebrate the unique journeys of individuals who've had the courage to break free and live life on their own terms. Their lives prove that you truly can be free to live your best and most authentic life.
[00:00:50] Julie: Let's get to it
[00:00:53] LuRae: Welcome to the show.
[00:00:55] LuRae: Today, I have a special guest, Julie Mullins, an intuitive energetic healer, spiritual teacher, retreat leader, and author who helps people connect more deeply with themselves and create more of what they want in life. She's originally from Brazil, a longtime LA resident, and currently living a nomadic life, joining us from Bali.
[00:01:15] LuRae: Julie, welcome to the show.
[00:01:18] Julie: Hello. Thank you so much for having me once again. What an honor.
[00:01:24] LuRae: Yeah, it's so great. It's so great to reconnect. This is your second appearance on the show, so I'm curious if you can share kind of what's happened since we last recorded and what's new with life. I know one of the new exciting things, but yeah, where you're from, recording from, but
[00:01:44] Julie: Yes.
[00:01:45] Julie: And what is interesting are also the similarities from today from when I first, when we first connected three years ago, was I was mentioning that I had just taken a one-way ticket to Bali, right? Leaving my Los Angeles life for the past 15 years in Los Angeles, and then going on a one-way ticket to Bali.
[00:02:09] Julie: And then I have been living nomadic, but mostly in Brazil. And then here we are again on another one-way ticket to Bali, restarting life.
[00:02:21] LuRae: Wow. And then I did this, yeah.
[00:02:24] Julie: And then I did this, yes. So I, I feel this is another very special transformational moment where I'm fully reconnected with, intuitively letting the next steps unfold, so what a great time.
[00:02:40] LuRae: Yes, yeah. What inspired your decision kind of to come back to Bali? I'm so excited because we'll be seeing each other in just a few weeks in Bali, so exciting.
[00:02:52] Julie: Oh my gosh. Well, first, Bali is such a magical place. It has such a nourishing feminine energy that resonates with me very much, so that is why.
[00:03:04] Julie: But I am hosting a retreat, as you know, and you are coming. Yay. So that is why I am here right now. We're having the retreat next month. And as I was wrapping up my life being mostly in Brazil, which better place to spend more time than here until the next steps unfold? So Bali, here we are.
[00:03:31] LuRae: absolutely.
[00:03:32] LuRae: So whe- when did you get there? Like, you've been there just a short period of time, now?
[00:03:37] Julie: Yeah, I arrived 10 days ago,
[00:03:39] LuRae: Oh, so exciting. So exciting. Oh my gosh. So what would you say living kind of a nomadic life has taught you about yourself?
[00:03:50] Julie: My favorite piece about not having to, Conform to one way of being, right?
[00:04:00] Julie: this, I would say this is the number one. It's like, having the freedom to fully tap into my authenticity, because each place has its own collective consciousness, the way that people do things, the way that people think, the way that they feel and their perspectives. And when you're able to travel around, that you get to think different thoughts.
[00:04:25] Julie: You get to have different perspectives. And then when you expose yourself to different ways of being and living, then we're connecting more and more to, okay, what makes sense to me versus what I am being led to think and live by. And I feel this is the number one thing that could led me to connect to my authenticity more, because when I was living in Los Angeles, for example, even what I thought I wanted was different because I was just following, the crowd.
[00:05:03] Julie: The gr- yes. And then when you exit the situation and you expose yourself to other ways of being, it's like, okay, so what makes sense to me, right? I'm, I'm seeing all these different ways of being. What makes sense to me? So this has allowed me to truly connect to what I want, not what I think I want, but what I actually want, how I want to live, how do I want to serve in my most core truth versus following just a version of success that is told To be.
[00:05:40] LuRae: Yes. Yes, I know. I've been amazed because I went, kind of went away from Instagram for a period of time, and then came back on and just saw the collective shift in awakening of people. I say people hopping on the conveyor belt of life and go to school, get a degree, get a good job, work for 40 years, hope you're still alive so that you can travel and retire, and people a lot of times don't even make it, and then they're miserable a lot of the time through that process.
[00:06:15] LuRae: So I just think what you're doing is the way of the future and just... Which is why it's so inspiring to have you share what your experience is living that kind of, you know, self-chosen, "This is what's right for me, and this is where I'm going next, and this is what I'm doing next," and not just following the, the path of the, the sheeple, I'll say.
[00:06:41] LuRae: Which-
[00:06:41] Julie: And I was going to say the same thing about you. I was going to say the same, because this is what I admire so much in you as well. It's you are totally building this container for people to go from this slavery Kind of.
[00:07:03] LuRae: Legalized slavery. You know, for lack of- Yes
[00:07:04] Julie: Yeah.
[00:07:05] LuRae: Yeah.
[00:07:05] Julie: into their freedom.
[00:07:07] Julie: So to me, this is, like, exactly what the earth needs, right? And it's amazing that you are providing this container for people, so.
[00:07:18] LuRae: Yeah. Yeah. It's been interesting to see people... Thank you. Seeing people reach out to me that, y- either they've been laid off or they're, they're not happy doing what they did, or they've started their new thing, and they're just wanting to say, "Hey, thanks for the great content because it encouraged me to be true to myself."
[00:07:38] LuRae: And I'm like, "That is the biggest compliment you could ever get," doing what, the work that you do.
[00:07:44] Julie: Yeah, 'cause now they're seeing what they thought was safe, right? Suddenly it's like, not only it's possibly dimming their light, killing their soul, but also it's not safe if they can get laid off at any point.
[00:07:57] Julie: So it's, it's not in their hands. So I feel people are seeing that, and it's great that you can provide, the steps for that. Amazing.
[00:08:06] LuRae: Yeah. Thank you. So you do a lot of work around, intuition and, and following what is true to you. I mean, I've taken some of your courses, which are amazing. You know, anyone listening, check her out bec- you know, after this, I'll put links to el- everything, her Expand into Possibilities, so that people can find you.
[00:08:27] LuRae: and talk a little bit about that, because a lot of people may not be sure whether it's themselves or something outside themselves that's influencing their thoughts.
[00:08:38] Julie: Right. Like, connecting to their intuition, right? It's like it's something that we are already naturally tapped into, but then we get confused with the fears, with anxiety, with limitations, with the things that we think we want, and that clouds our innate intuitive abilities.
[00:09:01] Julie: So, our intuition is really that neutral tone insight versus something that comes from a place of emotion. And that's the biggest difference, is when you're feeling, "Oh, I need this" Or there is,you thinking that you want something, but truly it's just you're feeling the lack of that certain emotion or confidence or self-image in you, and it's not true.
[00:09:35] Julie: So that insight that comes when you're not in need, in lack of anything, or feeling that, that manifestation will make you feel something different than what you already are, right? It's like a neutral thing of I know I don't need that thing. I can accept, I can see the positives where I am at with how things are at, but I really feel that thing is more in alignment with me, not from a place of need or escaping or anything emotionally driven.
[00:10:14] Julie: It's more an neutral insight.
[00:10:17] LuRae: and do you think we... can we want something that we're not ready to receive, like we're not in the place to receive something that we think we want?
[00:10:27] Julie: 100%. I feel yeah, I feel usually when we start wanting something, and even when we have a vision that is truly in alignment with our soul, we're not ready for it yet, and that's when we're gonna take the steps that are going to allow us to become that version of ourselves.
[00:10:48] Julie: So, we're usually not ready. We have that vision, and then we get to follow the intuitive steps to transform ourselves into that version that can hold all that next level energy. So it's not a bad thing when we're not ready. It's just that our intuition is already setting the intention of where we're supposed to be heading and who we're supposed to be becoming in this lifetime.
[00:11:18] LuRae: Absolutely. No, I, I understand that. Yeah. And, and the... The... That saying be it until you become it. So it's almost like we practice getting ready and taking the steps, and the clarity comes, and then we're able to match that same vibration of what it is that we're wanting to experience or create or whatever, whatever that is.
[00:11:41] LuRae: Yeah. So true. How would you say that your travel of the world has changed your definition of success and what you define as success?
[00:11:54] Julie: Ooh, that, that has changed significantly because there was a moment where I was disconnected from the financial aspect, right? Because when I saw that being in presence brought so much fulfillment, I'm like, "Oh, this is what it is.
[00:12:18] Julie: This is exactly what we need to be focusing on." Because that version of me prior to that was all about surviving and making money and all of that. So when I first left, that was my first change of my vision of success, was like, oh my gosh, we- if we can actually just allow ourselves the presence in the middle of the chaos, right?
[00:12:42] Julie: It doesn't mean we don't want anything. We're not gonna be ambitious. We're not going to solve problems. But if we can allow ourselves to be present, to fully enjoy, that is the fulfillment. That is the true success. Not what you achieve, but your levels of peace. along the journey as you are achieving the things.
[00:13:08] Julie: So first it was mostly about that, and being a little bit disconnected from desiring to expand financially, because I was also healing, just focusing so much on that. And now I feel I'm at this balance of both, right? Of being able to enjoy this presence and at the same time connect to the ambition and, the next levels of financial so that we don't stay stuck and leave our genius dormant, right?
[00:13:43] Julie: Because we are supposed to be creating, we are supposed to be expanding. So that is what my vision of, the ideal success is that is the continuously, the continuous, vision of expansion, but without letting that take the joy of the moment. So combining both.
[00:14:05] LuRae: Mm-hmm. Yeah, that makes sense. That makes sense.
[00:14:07] LuRae: Yeah, not, not living and reliving the past, and not getting too far ahead of ourselves because life is happening in the moment, and it's always the now, right? Yeah. So what have you outgrown as far as beliefs and, through this experience of... Because so, I mean, there's so many people, I'll just g- r- go rewind for a second.
[00:14:29] LuRae: How many people have never left, for example, the US or left whatever country you- they may be listening from. And once you start traveling, your, as you said earlier, the, your view of the world and your perspective of life changes. So what are some of the beliefs that you've outgrown through those experiences?
[00:14:51] Julie: The, well, it is true what they say that this, the problems just get a little bit smaller, right? So like the little things that we used to care about, we suddenly, there's just so much, so many more other things that we can be- Putting our energy into that, the little things on the day-to-day that were annoyances and things, we suddenly no longer see them as a problem, right?
[00:15:19] Julie: That was something that I, I felt is true when they say when you travel, you you know, you see the bigger picture and the little things are no longer, the big lion, right? It's just, it's just a little kitty. So that is one thing. The main thing for me was how I view obstacles in general, even the bigger ones, in a sense of, I used to feel if I'm dealing with an obstacle was because I was doing something wrong, right?
[00:15:49] Julie: I'm manifesting wrong, I'm out of alignment, but in a negative way. I used to feel, oh, I need to get this right. So there was a lot of thoughts around being hard on myself when dealing with obstacles. And what I've noticed in the journey is every challenge, every place that I go, every little thing, they, the challenges are going to be there.
[00:16:14] Julie: Like, we don't escape the problem. So when people think, "Oh, you can escape something," no you can't. The problems follow you, right? It all follows you. So, and they're meant to be there, and this is what I see now. It's like every challenge is teaching us something about ourselves, and they are the stepping stones.
[00:16:35] Julie: They're not in the way, they are the way. So the goal is not to be without obstacles, it's to have a different perspective over them so that we can have a good relationship with the problems and see how they are happening for us. Instead of feeling, "Oh, I'm going here, I have a problem. I'm going here, I have a prob-," like, no.
[00:16:57] Julie: It's like, how is this serving me? How is this exactly what I need right now for what I am calling in, for who I'm becoming? So, changing the relationship with how I see the obstacles was the main belief expansion in the past couple of years on this journey.
[00:17:18] LuRae: Yeah, I would say that, I think there's a book that's called Wherever You Go, There You Are, and it is exactly that, that we will, as you've said so many times, I've heard you say it and I know it to be true, we keep getting the opportunity to learn the lesson over and over until we get it.
[00:17:39] LuRae: And if we don't sometimes even listen, w- and this is another great saying that, you know, came from you, is when we don't listen to our intuition or even what we're being guided to, to do, the whispers eventually become a roar until we can't, we can't ignore what we're supposed to be learning or doing or the direction we're meant to take.
[00:18:05] LuRae: it, it's inevitable.
[00:18:06] Julie: Yes, and when we are not listening to that specific obstacle in one area of life, they transition into other areas as well. And then suddenly, here's chaos in all the areas of life, but it's not a bad thing. That's really when our higher selves are like, "You're ready to heal this pattern," and that's why it gets loud, so that we don't miss it.
[00:18:29] Julie: So we're like, "Okay, let me look at the thoughts, the feelings, the beliefs, and the actions that are in my field that are creating this conflict, that are creating this dynamic," whether it's a relationship conflict or, like, a financial block or a body illness. There is an emotional and energetic pattern that started with some thoughts- feelings, the beliefs, and the action.
[00:18:55] Julie: So when we look at the obstacle, when we ask those questions, what is this teaching me? What are the patterns within me that are creating this dynamic so that I can choose new thoughts, new beliefs, right? And then act from a different place. So it's all for us because we're ready to release those within us.
[00:19:19] LuRae: It's interesting because it's making me think, I have been spending, like, more time on LinkedIn and just, and communicating with people there, and observing what people are writing about. And even just looking out into, like, Gallup polls and Forrester reports and toxic work environments, it's an explosion of that, and people talking openly about it, which I applaud anyone who calls out the toxic environment because exactly tied in with what you're saying, people will continue to experience that kind of thing.
[00:19:57] LuRae: Even if they switch to some other place, some other role, it will follow them until whatever that lesson is. And it might be they're supposed to get out of a corporate role and bring their light and their gifts into the world in a different way. So I'm curious, like, what your perspective is around that, that whole area of toxic work environments, toxic employees, people
[00:20:26] Julie: Yes.
[00:20:26] Julie: I have a very unique perspective on toxic, right? Because we do have that aspect of, yes, this is a toxic situation, let me love myself enough to exit the situation or see where my soul is leading me, is guiding me to, since this is feeling toxic for me. So there is definitely a layer of that. and also where my work is big on is the reflection piece.
[00:20:58] Julie: It's like, what are the aspects in me that I'm also being toxic with myself that I am projecting into that situation and, and that situation is reflecting back to me? So I don't believe in coincidences, right? There is always something that that toxic dynamic is mirroring back to us. So if I have a toxic boss, a critical coworker, some, job title that's really not valuing me, it's not up to my potentials, that's how I've been also feeling about myself deep inside.
[00:21:39] Julie: So first, before just exiting that job, leaving the position or telling the coworker to back off, it's important that we see where we are being critical within ourselves, where we are not seeing our own value, because that is why that situation is happening in the first place. It's almost like a theater play that is allowing us to experience ourselves in different forms, in different scenarios, so that we address those things from within, 'cause nothing happens outside of our energy field and if I want that coworker to have kind words, supportive words towards me, I need to have those things with myself in other areas of my life.
[00:22:32] Julie: I ha- need to have kind inner thoughts. I need to acknowledge my accomplishments, celebrate my little wins, and really have that relationship with myself so that my external dynamics change. Because just walking out is not enough. If we just walk out, we recreate the same scenario in a different form. And if we walk out of that critical coworker, then suddenly a family member becomes critical.
[00:23:05] Julie: And if we walk out of that family member as well, then maybe a body part will start aching, because the criticism is inside us, and we do need to reprogram it there first before we see that externally. So that would be my view on toxic. We need, instead of just changing the external, it's seeing what that is showing about ourselves, what that is mirroring about ourselves in all the areas of our lives.
[00:23:38] LuRae: It's, it's making me think of relationships, because I've heard a lot also about people b- realizing that, oh, I need to become the kind of person that I want to attract. Like, I need to have those qua- you know, people need to have those qualities. So you want, you know, someone who's fit. Well, it's a good idea for the person to be fit.
[00:23:58] LuRae: You want someone loving. Well, it's good to be loving, as you said, like of yourself. So that, those principles, I can see them applying everywhere in life, as you said. It's, everything is a mirror back to... I think of that so much. So I could, because I obviously learned that from you, that, you know, we hold up a mirror, you know, when we...
[00:24:21] LuRae: Another person is simply holding up a mirror back to us of the areas that we're, would be wise to love ourselves more or talk more positively to ourselves. And to your point, we can get to the point where we decide, "I love myself enough, I am stepping out of this," because it's not a fit. But it's not out of anger and, f- it's not, as you said, carrying those same qualities out the door into the next place, because it'll be recreated.
[00:24:55] LuRae: Yeah.
[00:24:56] Julie: Yes, and what you said is exactly the point where you get to make decision. It's when you're no longer super triggered, when you're no longer blaming the person. You can see them as your mirror. You're taking responsibility. You're applying those things in your own life, and suddenly you have that intuitive insight of, "Okay, I could change this dynamic into more harmony, but I also see that we have different values," right?
[00:25:26] Julie: They're going on a different path, I'm going on over here. So there's a better match for both situations, whether that's a business partnership, friendship, or romantic relationship. It's like, yeah, we can make it work, but my intuition is letting me know my path is a different one. And that is the point where we make a decision.
[00:25:50] Julie: When people ask me, "When do you know when it's time to leave?" It's never in the midst of the chaos. It's never there, because when you're super triggered, blaming the person, they're getting under your skin, there's so many gifts in that situation for you, right? They're being a perfect mirror of something that you are ready to release within yourself.
[00:26:16] Julie: But once we see what that is, then we start to love ourselves, recognize our... what we bring to the table, our attributes, connect to our potential, and then w- we see the other person in a different lens. We're like, "Oh, thank you for being my perfect mirror for what I needed to see in myself." And when we walk away, there's no resentment.
[00:26:43] Julie: There's only the gratitude of that experience. Not that it felt great for the human self, but it's recognizing that the soul got the biggest expansion that it desired.
[00:26:58] LuRae: Yeah. To finally let that go and move on to a different experience of life. Yeah. So when people are wanting, say, to, to, you know, to create a new reality for themselves, it...
[00:27:13] LuRae: How much do you believe or n- feel that it's, action versus surrendering, and just having faith that it's all gonna work out? Like, what's the balance, do you believe?
[00:27:28] Julie: Faith is so important, right, for us to keep going. However, I believe in always being in a state of action. People confuse surrendering sometimes with being passive and not daily taking action, like intuitive action towards that goal.
[00:27:50] Julie: Because what we mentioned previously in the podcast today, when we want something, we're not always ready right now, so we can't just sit back and say, "Hey, universe, deliver for me. I set my intention, now bring it over here. I won't do anything." No, we actually need to get out there and become, which-
[00:28:14] LuRae: aligning the
[00:28:14] Julie: thoughts.
[00:28:15] Julie: What are the right thoughts that I need to have? What are the beliefs that I need to have, the daily actions that I need to be taking that match what I'm calling in? If we're not taking those actions daily, we're not getting any closer, and then just surrendering is not gonna work because we're not moving towards it.
[00:28:37] Julie: So faith is beautiful, but we need to be taking action. If we're not compatible, if what we are doing, thinking, feeling is not a match for the version of ourselves that already has what we're calling in, we're never gonna get there. So daily intuitive action, actively reprogramming all our neural pathways to match that new embodiment is essential.
[00:29:09] LuRae: So I'm also curious, when p- people, a lot of times, I, as when I, I have a newsletter when they f- they'll answer a few questions about what do they feel, what are their biggest concerns, and some of them are like, "I don't know what I should do. I'm not sure if I can make enough money. I'm not sure if it would work out."
[00:29:26] LuRae: what advice and wisdom would you sh- encourage and share with those people listening who know they wanna be doing something else, but they really don't even know where to start?
[00:29:36] Julie: The first thing I would say is to start programming the brain with small things on the day-to-day to show you that, yes, you are capable.
[00:29:48] Julie: So, it starts to rewrite a story from self-doubt into self-trust, and it doesn't matter how small that task is. For example, you poured yourself a cup of coffee and you're like, "Oh, look at me starting something and finishing. I poured the coffee. I drank the coffee. I finished it. I completed a task." So it's in the micro little things in the day versus the bigger accomplishments that we train our brain that we are a success, that we can take something through all of its stages, like from beginning to the end, that we are capable of taking action.
[00:30:29] Julie: And then our brain starts to feel safe in trusting ourselves, right? And then the self-doubt starts to shift, but it has to be so small. And when we don't have a clue about what we want in life, we get to get into smaller pieces of what are the feelings that I would like to feel? And we can do something that I call the general specific, which is calling in the intention of, "I choose to live my purpose in the most profitable, fulfilling, authentic, and effective way."
[00:31:08] Julie: "I choose to attract a divine union that is a perfect match for me in my most authentic self." So things like that are so specific, but at the same time, we don't need any details. We're just setting the intention of the best of the best. So we can start there and look for those feelings and connect to the, the feelings of what we wish to feel.
[00:31:34] Julie: So we don't actually need to know any further details to start calling that in. And then what's going to happen is daily we're going to have an intuitive insight of the next steps towards that, which could be suddenly you feel pulled towards a book. Maybe a course pops on your screen and you're like, "Oh my goodness, this is so in alignment what, with what I'm calling in."
[00:32:03] Julie: Suddenly you reconnect with a friend with the same goals, and it, that, that friend is going to be such helpful energy on that journey towards that. So the universe starts to support that intention, but we do need to take those intuitive daily steps Versus just the surrender, like, "Oh, let me be on my couch."
[00:32:28] Julie: Well, that's
[00:32:30] LuRae: why I always say that, that when we put out and take the, you know, next intended step, the universe will rise up and meet us. And so it's kind of like how serious are you? Do you really want to take that step out of that environment that you're in? If you do, here, as you said, here's a book.
[00:32:51] LuRae: Here's a course. H- here's... Oh, haven't talked to that person for a while. It's like, "Oh, how coincidental. You're pursuing that, too. That's awesome." So those things happen, unexpectedly, and those are like the, votes from the universe, votes from your higher self. Yes, you're on the right path.
[00:33:10] LuRae: Keep going because you'll get wherever it is you're wanting to go, right?
[00:33:15] Julie: 100%. We do have free will, so we get to shape accordingly. And the connection point as well that I see defers it taking a long time from people to get what they want, and the people that are making it in a quicker way is adding the neuroscience piece of understanding how the brain works.
[00:33:38] Julie: Because if we have certain beliefs, if we filter reality through a certain view, we are going to keep recreating that. So, we need to understand that- If daily we find proof of what we wish to see, we are literally creating new connections in our brain that will help us not only see reality in a different way, but attract the things that we're calling in.
[00:34:11] Julie: So reality will always mirror what we believe to be true. So, we do need to find proof daily that what we're calling in is true for us. So, and this is what I call the ingredients, like baking a cake, we need ingredients for the reality that we are calling in. So for example, if someone wants to be a coach, a teacher, right?
[00:34:42] Julie: Let's say one of the ingredients is communication. They need to feel they have good communication, that they, what they say is understood and well-received. Now, daily they get to start to find micro moments where that is true, so they prove day in and day out to themselves, "Oh, what I s- I can frame things in a way that is understood," right?
[00:35:10] Julie: "I can communicate in a way that people finally get it." So this would be ex- an example of like, finding proof daily that is true, and then suddenly within a month, like four to six weeks of doing this, you have that programmed in your field and you are So that is like an example of the little work that we can be doing towards the thing that we are calling in by programming the brain and our energy towards it.
[00:35:42] LuRae: You know, I think to, to wrap up this episode, I think it would be really interesting for you, w- we did this on the first episode we recorded, but to talk a little bit about your personal journey and how you transitioned from what you started out pursuing as a profession and career in Los Angeles, and then, what happened to spark this new direction, which is definitely your element.
[00:36:09] LuRae: I mean, you are totally in your element. And sharing a little bit about that, because that, you've ... Now looking back at it, I'm sure have all kinds of insights into how it unfolded and how you decided to shift.
[00:36:23] Julie: Absolutely. and then I did this. Right.
[00:36:28] LuRae: Yeah.
[00:36:29] Julie: Yeah. And it's so important to allow ourselves to start over as many times as we need until we find what that thing is f- for us, right?
[00:36:39] Julie: So I was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. A lot of people just grow into being models and actresses, and sure enough, that's what I got pulled into. That's what I was doing in Rio, doing theater plays, doing commercials, modeling, getting into acting, did soap opera. And then I decided to go to Los Angeles to expand the acting career.
[00:37:07] Julie: And little did I know, my journey, my higher self was guiding me to, a, a completely different path. So, through all the struggles in the journey- I, my heart just kept softening into the authenticity because how much can the ego survive when you get shut door after shut door? And I was there for 15 years, and I bartended eight out of those years.
[00:37:41] Julie: So if... The beginning, even to get into bartending was a struggle. So there were so many things in the journey that just kept crushing my heart and soul, and the more our heart breaks, the more light comes in, right? So I started looking for more things to keep my faith and keep going, so more books, more classes in self-development, more, self-love practices in order for me to just survive and keep going.
[00:38:16] Julie: And the pivotal point for me was when I actually had some success in the acting with voiceover, and that was very clear that it wasn't fulfilling for me, right? A little prior to that, right before I did voiceover, I- it was very clear that I was feeling depressed, and I went to a retreat in India seeking to find myself.
[00:38:45] Julie: Had beautiful insights there that I was in a wrong path, but I still went back And wanted to make it into acting because imagine a whole life of pursuing something to just walk out without getting anything. I'm like, "No." So I already knew my life was guiding me towards something, but I was stubborn and, "No, I want to feel that I've made it here, and then I move on," right?
[00:39:12] Julie: Very stubborn. And so I did. So I did. And I got into the voiceover, had success with voiceover, and then there was a feeling of, "This is not what I'm here for." And at the same time, I was struggling physically with a stomach issue that suddenly stopped healing. I had stomach gastritis, and so my body was starting to react to how I was truly feeling.
[00:39:42] Julie: And in the journey of, seeking solutions, that's when I met my mentor who explained all the emotional root causes that were making my stomach not heal and prolong that chronic illness. Because I've always had it, but it would heal quickly. Like once a year, I would have a crisis, and then I would heal it within a couple of days, but suddenly stopped healing.
[00:40:07] Julie: So I had to look at the emotional root cause of that. And I started to fall in love with this. I had... I started to feel so much passion about healing and all the ways that we don't realize that our emotions and the thoughts and how our en- we are holding our energy, how that is affecting everything, right?
[00:40:29] Julie: So I got in it for myself, and then I'm like, "Wow, this is where my passion is at." But it took all the struggles to see it because I was so stubborn into what I thought I wanted. And then I started to transition into this. I remember, signing up for the healer training but still not knowing what I was going to do with my life.
[00:40:57] Julie: It was kind of like, "Oh, let's try this. Let's see." But I you know, it took me some time to realize this is a, is my new career, and I didn't know. I was just so interested in the topic, so fascinated by it. And then once I realized that we can help people heal Not only their body, but their obstacles and relationships, their financial blocks, by connecting to their intuition and understanding the emotional root cause of things.
[00:41:35] Julie: I'm like, oh my gosh, the, the whole world needs to understand this. We're missing out. We're missing out on our potentials here. So, and that's when my business started. So it was a long journey.
[00:41:52] LuRae: It's such a great story because I, I mean, I think, you know, anyone listening to this, it's like there, there are so many sayings that are, you know, you can, climb the ladder and realize you're leaning it against the wrong wall.
[00:42:04] LuRae: So you put all this time, you know, or just staying on the road longer because you've been on it doesn't make it right. It's just more time wasted, right?
[00:42:15] Julie: Absolutely. Absolutely. And this is, if I could give any advice in regards to that, it's never let the age number be a factor. "Oh, but I've been doing this for 30 years.
[00:42:31] Julie: I've been doing this for 40." It doesn't matter. It's only over when it's over. I don't care if we're 85.
[00:42:36] LuRae: Exactly.
[00:42:37] Julie: Right?
[00:42:38] LuRae: Yes.
[00:42:39] Julie: In one year you can find yourself, write an amazing book that will change the entire Earth. So never let the age factor or how many, how long you've been doing something to stop you from completely shifting the course of your entire life.
[00:42:58] Julie: So here I am, 41 now, starting over once again, right? On my one-way ticket, here we go. And that's okay. It is safe, it's beautiful, and however many times we need to start over, we get to give ourselves permission. So we should never underestimate what we can do in even, like, three months when we are truly in alignment with what our soul wants to do.
[00:43:28] LuRae: Oh, so good. And so true. And I just wanna thank you so much for all the wisdom and advice and just sharing your personal journey with people, because hearing how other people have done it is sometimes the inspiration people need to know it's okay to start over. It doesn't matter how long, where you're at, just take the first step.
[00:43:56] LuRae: Just don't, don't wait and think, "Oh, this is just it." No. It doesn't have to be the end. It can be just the beginning.
[00:44:04] Julie: Yes. Yes. Every experience is a win, but we shouldn't stay confined to a decision that we have made before. Every day is a chance to make a new choice in what is truly authentic to us.
[00:44:23] LuRae: Thank you so much for coming back on the show.
[00:44:27] LuRae: This was fabulous.
[00:44:29] Julie: Oh, it's an honor, my love, and I can't wait to see you so soon. And I'm so happy for all your listeners to have such a great powerhouse queen like you, and I'm so proud of all the things that you're building. I love witnessing the, your whole journey as well.
