Intro [00:00:00] Welcome to the Seven Figure Advisor Podcast,

Intro [00:00:00] the show for financial advisors ready to scale their business to seven figures and beyond. Each week you'll get proven growth strategies, leadership insights, and best practices from someone that's helped countless advisors break past the million dollar milestone.

Intro [00:00:00] Here's your host, Nick Davies.

Nick [00:00:00] I've been sick this week, and so have a bunch of my clients. It's really interesting to see what pops up when you're sick as a high performer or business owner. You're already pushing yourself to a level where you expect a lot, right? It's like having a high-performing car.

Nick [00:00:00] It does a lot. It creates a lot, but it also can be knocked off quite easily. It's been interesting to see the things that have shown up in the systems that have been built over this week. Here's an example from one advisor out of Illinois.

Nick [00:01:00] They were sick, laid up for a few days. We'd spent a few weeks prior to that really getting some clarity with a person on their team booking meetings, setting meetings for them, and making the distinction between not just reaching out to prospects and clients, but having the commitment to deliver the result of a set amount of meetings per week.

Nick [00:01:00] So when they came back to business that week, it was in bits and pieces, right? Doing what they can, sleeping between client calls, not exactly working on the business and being the best version of themself, just doing what they could.

Nick [00:01:00] But because they'd set the systems in place before that, it wasn't a case of no meetings on the books for next week. They were still there. Maybe not with the completeness of their best version of themself, but still at a high level.

Nick [00:02:00] I love that James Clear quote: we don't rise to the level of our goals, we fall to the level of our systems. By making sure that we're continuously putting them in place, we change the baseline, and ultimately we want to optimize for a higher baseline rather than peak performance.

Nick [00:02:00] Like an athlete of any kind, someone performing on stage, that moment that you perform on stage, or that time where you get to run for the gold medal, is a very small part of what the whole process is, and most of it other people aren't seeing. So if we are just raising the baseline, that's the win.

Nick [00:02:00] It's like having a pot on the stove that's full of water. You need to have it boiling in order to put the stuff into it, but you're not using it all the time. If you let it go cold, it takes a lot to get it up to that boiling temperature again.

Nick [00:02:00] But if you keep it simmering, you can always go back to it and change the baseline, change your results, because over the course of the year, a lot of stuff happens.

Nick [00:03:00] Sometimes you'll be at a peak. Sometimes you'll be at some lows. But if we change the baseline, we change the trajectory overall. It makes a real big difference as to the results that we get and the way that we live our life.

Nick [00:03:00] You can also notice it in terms of how you show up and how you think with your clients. What other systems have you put in place where you might have your team creating your meeting prep for you?

Nick [00:03:00] Rather than having to do all the meeting prep yourself, rather than having to really think through each time you work with a client again, part of your success is probably that you're really good at what you do and can wing it a lot and still bring a lot of value to clients.

Nick [00:03:00] But if you create a system around your team supporting you to do the prep for that, if you're feeling a bit off, it doesn't have to be you feeling sick.

Nick [00:03:00] This week, I could see all the thoughts in my mind and how I wanted to say things, but it's like someone went in there and just jumbled them all up. I think it came out in a different order than I wanted it to flow out.

Nick [00:03:00] But if you set up the systems to support you, you can deliver a high level when you really need it. That's when it becomes really noticeable. But what's important is creating the stability and raising the baseline of your success.
